1. Where are you located?

We are located at 171 Queens Ave., London, ON, on the 4th floor, Unit 420. The building's entrance is located on the Queens Ave side. If you’re attending an event and find the door locked, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We’ll be happy to meet you at the door!

2. What are QX’s hours of operation?

The QX Community Centre does not have regular open hours. The space is only open when a scheduled program or event is taking place. As QX is volunteer-run, there is no staff member or volunteer available to provide access outside of scheduled programming.

Please check our Events page or social media before visiting to confirm that the Community Centre is open.

3. What if I am in crisis and need support?

While we are committed to supporting our community in various ways, we want to acknowledge that we do not offer crisis management services. If you are in need of immediate assistance or experiencing a crisis, we encourage you to reach out to professional crisis support services or local emergency resources that can provide the specialized help you deserve. click here.

4. How can I access your Food Pantry?

We recognize that food insecurity is increasingly affecting individuals and families in our community. If you are part of our community, you are welcome to access our food pantry every two weeks during designated drop-in hours or through any QX-led programming. Our pantry is stocked entirely through generous donations, so the availability of items may vary. To ensure fairness and availability for all, we kindly ask that individuals limit their selection to 10 items per visit, in accordance with our guidelines.

5. How can I access gender-affirming clothing?

Our clothing closet continues to grow with a diverse range of options for all needs. Whether you're seeking seasonal attire or exploring a new style, we invite you to come explore our selection. A small changing area is available for those who wish to try items on. Please note that our closet is stocked entirely through donations, so the availability of items may fluctuate. If you are part of our community, you are welcome to access this closet during designated drop-in hours or through any QX-led programming.

6. Do I need to register to attend your events?

Great question! The best way to find out about our upcoming events is by visiting our events page (click here), where you'll find a comprehensive list of all scheduled activities. Please follow the instructions provided on the page to register. We ask for registrations to help us prepare appropriately for each event and ensure a smooth experience for everyone. Our events are made possible by the dedication of our generous volunteers, and we want to be mindful of their time and efforts by providing them with an accurate headcount.

7. Why is the main door locked when I arrive?

During traditional non office hours, 171 Queens is accessible by key card only. Any event/program after 5pm, or on weekends/holidays, a QX volunteer needs to open the main door.

 

The volunteer will wait 10 minutes after the start of the event but if you happen to arrive after, no problem. Please call 519-439-9420 to let us know you have arrived and we will let you in. We understand this is inconvenient, we like to see this as an added security to promote a safe space for participants.

QX Land Acknowledgement

QX is located on the traditional territories of the Chonnonton, Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, and Lenaape Nations, connected through the London and Sombra Township Treaties, and to the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum. With this acknowledgement, QX recognizes these Indigenous communities as the original stewards of this land and honours the enduring strength of their cultures, languages, and knowledge systems, which continue to thrive today.

We also acknowledge that colonialization and the impacts of colonial violence are not just a piece of history, but also a current lived reality. The crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirits Peoples and the Calls to Action in The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada tell us all that we can and must do better. Queer liberation does not exist in isolation, but rather in relationship with the very notion of Indigenous solidarity.

Furthermore, QX would like to acknowledge the deeply rooted history of Two Spirit peoples. Their stories, teachings, and knowledges have always existed, and we hope to continue learning from and with them.

​

QX invites our community to learn more about the Indigenous communities in this area. If you are looking for a place to start, the Indigenous Initiatives department through Western University has many publicly accessible videos, toolkits, and readings to support your learning.
